As
I have mentioned previously, once a month I write a guest post on
Fashion Worked. Fashion Worked is a fantastic fashion and
opinion site which aims to be inclusive and promote a better body
image for all. As such, they kindly asked me to be their “Plus
Perspective” guest blogger once a month.
For
my next post with them I wanted to do an open question and answer
session. What I have noticed since starting fashion blogging
myself is that there always seem to be questions when it comes to
plus size fashion bloggers. Whether it be about the fashion we
choose, confidence levels, or the body image that we
have of ourselves. I know that I was mystified to see confident, happy in front of the camera women when I first started myself, until I grew into one.
For
example I was once participating in the weekly #psbloggerschat when I
saw someone ask why it was that plus size bloggers felt the need to
hold their own separate chat, aside from the regular #fbloggers chat.
If
I remember rightly a few different people answered her, my answer
being that with only certain stores available to shop in, it made
sense to have somewhere where you can pool your information to find the best fashion. Also
for people just coming into fashion blogging or in need of a place to
grow your confidence, it was a great resource to have.
The
girl asking the question had never thought about it in those terms
before and said as much, adding that it seemed to separate us apart
when there was no need. If only everyone in the world thought this way!
It
made me wonder, what other preconceptions/questions/wonderments do others have
about plus size bloggers and their fashion blogs? Are there
questions that people want to know but are afraid to ask? Is it
really them and us or can fashion blogging move on to being totally
inclusive?
I
certainly don’t have all of the answers and my knowledge in this
subject only relates as far as my own experiences, but I would be
really interested to find out the views and questions of other
fashion bloggers and readers.
So,
whether you are a blogger yourself or a reader of fashion blogs, if
you have a question can you send it in the below ways. If you know someone who may be interested in this, I would be grateful if you could share the post.

This may be an interesting experiment! The Q&A post will be up on the FashionWorked in early February.
I can't think of any questions to put forward at the moment, but I'll definitely add a link to this post in this Sunday's "Serendipity Sunday" post. I'll be interested to read the Q&A when it's up, as it's sure to be really interesting and insightful. xx
ReplyDeletei cant think of a question but would like to say weldone x
ReplyDeletehope that goes well, now I'm a 14-16 it isn't an issue for me but I remember struggling to find 18-20 maternity that was flattering...
ReplyDeleteit's incredible that the shops seem to think only skinny people get pregnant isn't it! I also found that really hard (and am now having the same problem with nursing clothes)
DeleteOne of the questions I get asked is "Do you feel comfortable in dressy clothes" because I think sometimes, I don't look comfortable in them and truth is sometimes I don't feel comfortable because I'm not used to wearing them not because of the fit or how they are meant to look. But when you do find a style and fabric that works for you then that's just like magic. F21+ do some lovely comfortable dressy clothes xx
ReplyDeleteI agree with hurny2009 enjoyed your post I found it hard to find things that I would normally wear and I often felt I looked awkward and that I just wasn't comfortable.
ReplyDeleteUkblogger xx
I can't think of any questions right away, but will share this one on Twitter. xx
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I suffer from not thinking anything suits me, I'm a 12-14 (or so I like to think, Primark sizes say otherwise) :(
ReplyDeleteI think that anything that separates groups of people from each other is a sad situation. People are different shapes and sizes and super skinny people have issues as much as plus sizes. That said, if certain issues aren't relevant to you it is pointless to be in a group which doesn't discuss stuff that is important or relevant to you.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you think is the best place to shop for plus size women?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! As a larger girl myself I can't really think if anything to ask. I think fashion has change so much in recent years and now there is more to choose from for us larger girls as there is for our lovely slender counterparts.
ReplyDeleteA great post! Are plus size catalogues a good way to shop?
